The NH Snow Sculture Competition

The 10th New Hampshire Sanctioned &Jackson Invitational Snow Sculpting Competition held at Black Mountain was a Huge Success! Congratulations to this year’s 1st Place Winners: Team Devellian of NH - the NH SanctionAward!

Congratulations also to: TeamRothstein of MA - the Jackson InvitationalAward; TeamBluck, Byard&McNaught of ME - People’s ChoiceAward; and TeamGrady of NH - Sculptors Choice Award.

Thousands ofvisitors enjoyed the weather as well as the incredible art frozen in time, creating endless photo opportunities. Because they are well lit at night there is even more time to capture just the right shot. With 16 competing teams Jackson enjoyed the biggest New England gathering of snow sculptures in quite sometime. Over the course theweekend 30 amazingly talented artists produced some of the most memorablep ieces gracing the mountainside. Represented were the states of ME, MA, VT and, of course, NH. Next year Dick Devellian will be headed over to Lake Geneva WI representing his home state of New Hampshire in the nationals. He will have the chance to delight over 250-thousand spectators. Although Jackson didn’t see a quarter of a million people we did have more than2,000 people pass through our quintessential New England Village to get a peak at these splendid sculptures. If you haven’t already had a chance to see them they will be displayed at Black until Mother Nature recalls them with warmer weather and melting.  For more photographs and information on this event, contact the Jackson Area Chamber at (603) 383-9356 or at www.jacksonnh.com.
