Rites of Spring - The Tuckerman Inferno

There's lots of snow up in The Notch ... spring weather is here, and the combination as always, is dynamite! Last weekend 2,000 backcountry skiers made their way up the glacial bowl on Mount Washington to ski down Tuckerman Ravine. On Saturday, April 16, the ravine will host the ski/snowboarding leg of the 5-part 2011 Friends of Tuckerman Ravine Inferno Pentathlon. Left Gully is expected to serve as the site of the race. As the ravine's coldest spot, it's got great snow coverage. Would-be skiers should check out this website before making the trek to the ravine: http://www.mountwashingtonavalanchecenter.org/ . Stay at the Lodge this weekend and enjoy free beer (while supplies last!).
